PowerSchool Parent/Guardian Access Instructions

 

PowerSchool is a web-based student data management system that the school district uses to administer a wide range of student information, including grades, attendance, course assignments, scheduling, demographics, and student activity data. Since PowerSchool is web-based, it can be accessed from any computer that is connected to the Internet. Each user has a username and password that allows access for only authorized users to view the one appropriate student record.

 

The intention of PowerSchool Parent Access is to provide parents, guardians, students, and teachers with a tool to communicate grades, attendance records, assignments, teacher comments, and school announcements.

 

Login to PowerSchool

By logging into PowerSchool, users can access web pages containing their studentÕs information. Usernames must be used exactly as given. Each username and password is unique to each student. If you have more than one child, you have a different login username and password for each child.

 

Type the following URL into a web browser to log into PowerSchool:

Press the ÒEnterÓ button

 

 

If you cannot login, please contact the main office of the school your child attends.

 

Main Menu

The menu of icons provide direct links to each of the main functions in PowerSchool Parent Access. Click on any of the icons to get to the page containing information on that topic. You can always get back to the main page (grades and attendance) by clicking on the Green PowerSchool word.

 

Grades and Attendance

This is the first page you come to after you login. To return to this page from another topic page, double click on the green ÒPowerSchoolÓ heading at the top of the screen.

 

The grades and attendance page displays the studentÕs attendance record for the current two weeks and an entry for each attendance entry. At the bottom of this page there is a legend that describes attendance codes. Courses, teachers term grades, and recorded attendance can be found on this page. Any field that is blue provides a link to another page or function.

 

 

E-Mail to Teachers

If you are using a mail program on your computer (such as Outlook or Mail), click on one of the teacher names. This will allow you to e-Mail directly to the teacher selected. If you use a web based email program, such as Hotmail or Yahoo, note the teacher e-Mail address when your mouse moves over the name. Send the e-Mail to the teacher using your web e-Mail.

 

Grades and Grade History

Clicking on the blue number below the letter grade will bring up a ÒClass Score DetailÓ page for the class you selected. This sheet displays the due date of assignments, the type of work, and the score received for each assignment.

 

 

Grades History

Any grade from the current year (all terms) can be viewed from the Grades History page.

 

Attendance

Click on any blue number under the Attendance column to display attendance information for the student in the class selected.

 

 

Attendance History

Click on the link to this page to view overall attendance for the selected for all classes your child is enrolled in. The Legend at the bottom of the page describes attendance codes.

 

E-Mail Notification

Parents can choose to have daily, weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly emails sent to the e-Mail account. The notification screen allows the user to select their choice for automated notification of student information. Press the ÒSubmitÓ button at the bottom of the page after making a change.

 

MSAD#11 does not use the ÒBalance AlertÓ function.

 

Parents can change or add e-Mail  addresses in the box on this page. Always remember to press the ÒSubmitÓ button after making changes.

 

Teacher Comments

This page allows you to read any comments entered by teachers. This information is the same as comments printed on report cards.

 

 

School Bulletin

The School Bulletin page will display the information from the administrative staff. School bulletins sometimes include Guidance information, extra-curricular activity schedules, special events, etc.

 

Logout

Always be sure to click the ÒLogoutÓ button when you are done using PowerSchool Parent Access to keep others from accessing your childÕs information.
